    Buddhist Peace Fellowship logo - History



    I known about this logo from the BPF and have even seen this in a tat on the net:



    ...but today I ran into a book by Thich Nhat Hahn pub. circa 1992:



    ...and there is the logo.

    Hmmm.

    Curious. What is the history and meaning of the logo? I am assuming it has to do with the Flower Sermon.

    Anyone have more info on it?

    Hi Erik,

    You may wish to write the BPF directly and ask (and report back).

    Something in my memory says that the common artwork was borrowed from TNH, who was influential in the founding of the organization. In any event, Buddha's hand holding a lotus is a very common symbol in Buddhism ... One discussion of the Lotus I found:
