Buddhist Nazis ...

Well, it is often a crazy world. I just left a Buddhist Facebook group whose owner regularly allows posts by Buddhist Nazis and White Supremacists. Yes, they exist. I first went there thinking it a group discussing "social policy," but it turned out to be a group publicizing "national socialism" and various conspiracy theories. The site owner claims he just wants "issues to be fully aired." Sorry, I will not provide a link to the group or its owner, as I do not want to bring people there. The below photos should say enough about the type of material the owner allows and encourages.

If you do wish more information, check out online about "Brian Ruhe" (shown in two photos below) who styles himself the Buddhist Fuhrer, denies the holocaust, and professes that the Jews are in league with the "reptile people." (The other photo is a former Theravadan priest who shares a videocast with Ruhe.) Yes, there is such a corner of Buddhism, with its own small group of sadly twisted supporters.

Since the title of this ‘manifesto’ is “Worldview of a Just World”, my political worldview is National Socialism as created by Adolf Hitler. This is the best political system known in recorded history. The fuehrer set it up to be 1000 years of peace and prosperity and it was well on it’s way to achieving that. I recommend this for individual nations and cultures to protect themselves with such a system adapted to their country. I am opposed to the evil globalism that has been rearing it’s ugly head over the past century. If wholesome national socialism grew across the nations and some kind of just world order developed into a world government in the future, I approve of that ideal. This is the idea of the chakravartin, below. For now, down with the Jew World Order!...

Mara is the evil one in Buddhist cosmology, similar to Satan. My worldview is that Mara works through the reptilians and the Jews. There’s more on the reptilians below. The Jews means not just the elite Jews but the Jewish people in general. It is the karma of the average Jewish person that they were born into a Jewish family and that they are being brainwashed by Jewish cultural influences. These are Mara’s people. Mara is highly intelligent, has limited spiritual attainment and he is deceptive and manipulative. There is no evil force in the human realm better organized than international Jewry. If the Buddha was with us now and you asked him, “What is the force of Mara in the world today?” The Buddha would reply, “It’s the Jews.” Mara also presents himself as Buddhist leadership with Jews dominating Buddhism in the west.

It is very sad. I lost family in the concentration camps. Buddhism should not be about hate and discrimination. This is a kind of Buddhism that has gone over to darkness.

I’m sorry you encountered this, Jundo. I’m sorry this ‘corner of Buddhism’ exists. With your personal connection to the tragic history Nazis inflicted upon your family, I can only imagine the intensity of emotion this might trigger.

Metta to them. May they turn their hearts and minds away from that hatred.

There is an alarming amount of people trying to convince those without historical knowledge how 'helpful and good' the Nazis were and that there was just one or the other wrong decision, leading to something 'not so good'.
Things like arguing that National Socialists were kind of Socialists, wanting to give the power back to the worker and people.
I thought it as impossible that large groups of educated people still get fooled by the Nazi propaganda today.
They should look at all the murdered Socialists and the strikers who were imprisoned in 'reeducation' labor camps, what they thought about the Nazis being socialist.

I don't think there's anything political in your post, Kotei. As you point out, it's fact vs fiction and right vs wrong. I'm happy to be part of a group that wants nothing to do with these people.

That is my Grandmother who escaped the Nazi’s one month before Poland was invaded and a letter she wrote for the Holocaust museum documenting members of my family that were murdered in the Holocaust. Had she waited one more month I would not be posting this. Lives were not the only thing that was lost.

I'm sorry you've had to experience this, Jundo. It must evoke some pretty painful feelings.

I think that anyone, any group, under certain circumstances can be the oppressor or the oppressed. Buddhism teaches us that we all, deep down, have the potential roots of excess anger, violence, divided thinking, prejudice and bigotry within us.

That said, we should Vow to oppose excess anger, violence, divided thinking, prejudice and bigotry in our selves, and in the wider society, no matter by whom against whom.

Jews, LGBTQ human beings, the disabled, members of the Romani (so called "gypsies"), Kurds, Palestinians, tribal minorities in Rwanda, the Rohinga and Christian Chin people in Myanmar (at the hands of Buddhists), Muslims, Christians, the Ainu in Japan, native peoples in many places, all manner of racial, ethnic, religious groups in almost every society of the world ... all have been the victims of violence, divided thinking, prejudice and bigotry. At the same time, many of those groups, in other situations, act badly too.

We must oppose all of it.

I am for free speech. But hate speech against groups as was tolerated on the facebook group should not be treated as "well, everyone is entitled to their say, let's treat all opinions the same." Opinions upholding and advocating hate, violence, prejudice and bigotry are not the same as other political opinions. (The immediate posting that sent me away was by Mr. Ruhe and the ex-monk speaking about how LGBTQ people have no place in Buddhism.)

This is not about "politics," but about opposing hate and violence, which is central to Buddhist ethics.

This is so sad. It is difficult not to get infuriated, but that is not the Buddhist way. I hope everyone sees the light and has love for everyone else.

Just checking him out a little, I came across this quote:

I would like to think that practice protects us to some degree against delusional views but know myself I can think some pretty stupid things. As Jundo says, though, this goes beyond mere political opinion, into hate speech.

Conspiracy views are widespread, and this is not the first time we have seen them arise in the Biuddhist community, but this is probably the most extreme manifestation I have seen, and from someone who says he has 30+ years of practice under his belt.

On the plus side, Shambhala (an organisation with its own issues) banned him from their community. We cannot control what arises, but, while I wouldn't want to exclude anyone on the basis of their political leanings, I would hope that most sanghas take a firm stance against people with views that incite hatred, whether against people of certain ethnicities, sexual orientation, gender expression or anything else.

Shalom aleichem dear tree-leaf folks! I want to say that emotional mysticism is a dream-like mind state that full of fears, nightmares, archetyphs and projections. Everything and every being can be an evil archetype in a mystic fool's mind. (I don't talk about every mystic one.) Division between good and evil and strong perverted emotions can find place in his mind and he can even torture himself just believing that suffering cleanses his spirit or mind. LGBTQ members or Jews or others can be projected as Mara's soldiers by them! The Holocoust can be justified in the name of Kamma!
If you are an emotionally and mentally ill mystic one, a god denier thinking faith in a god makes your nation weak, a homophobic one who consider homosexuality is a threatening for the future of your race and a white person maybe Budhism is suitable for you! Because the Buddha was an Arian, didn't belive in Atman, there are many swastika symbols on the statues of Buddha and the queer people entitled as Pandaka's in some Sutras!



I remember Japanese monks who supported "the Rising Sun" and fought and killed in the WW2 for the glory of the Tenno!

Carl Jung warns the humanity about how dangerous is projection of our 'shadow's unto other people, groups or nations!

Let me quote a passage from Dhammapada to so called Buddhist Nazis:

"Animosity can not dissolved by animosity but loving kindness is animosity disolved."
