I have family who sometimes ask how, as "one of those Buddhists," I can celebrate Christmas. I simply explain that while I don't share their religious idea of it, I think it's perfectly beautiful to have a day to celebrate peace, love and unity, to practice generosity, and to allow both an old man bearing gifts and an innocent newborn baby symbolize all that. (The North European Pagan symbols and traditions are a bonus, but... No need to debate that on Christmas.)
Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmasolstirohatsyulkwanzukkha.

I'm still just starting to learn. I'm not a teacher. Please don't take anything I say too seriously. I already take myself too seriously!

i have a collection of about hundred Christmas stables. Every year i put a photograph of one or two of them on Facebook. Someone asked me this year: Can you belong to the Buddhists when you are so attached to Christmas stables..

For us it's about family, being together -- and all of us being home at the same time, with few interruptions. This is so rare now, we cherish this time.
