Shikantaza and the Morning Star - Another great article by Jundo in Tricycle

    Hi folks,

This was just published by Tricycle. I thought I would share, it is worth a read.

It’s not easy, but freeing "just sitting" from comparison and goals is the right way to realize this Zen practice.

Really? I did not know. That is so nice.

(Actually, I knew ... I am just trying to act surprised. )

Does the star judge itself separate from space, the mountain separate from the land, the river from the other waters, the bird from the forest, and the breeze from the air?

I have a lot to learn; take anything I say that sounds like teaching with a grain of salt.

Shikantaza is, by nature, beyond compare, so it’s best not to compare it to anything.
The one thing we can do without any desire to be anything other than what we already are. Sounds so simple, but when take to the practice of Shikantaza, it lets us know how much we waver. But even in the wavering we just are...
