I am due to attend a meeting later this week at the Welsh Assembly Government chaired by the Minister For Health. The minister is seeking the opinions of religious groups on the subject of organ donation.
Recently legislation providing for an "Opt Out" system was rejected by the British Parliament. If adopted this would have meant that organs could have been taken from a deceased person without consultation unless they had previously registered an objection.
As there is a dire need for organs, the Welsh Assembly are considering seeking separate legislation on this and the meeting is part of the consultative process.
I would like to hear what the views are on this and organ donation in general.
