Announcement: Special Section for Washin's Sitting from Ukraine

    Dear All,

Just a note that I made a dedicated area of the Zazen forum only for Washin's Sunday sits from Ukraine. Hopefully, this whole new special section is needed only for a short time, until peace and world sanity are restored. I hope so.

Sunday Zazen for Peace, with Washin in Ukraine
Our Rev. Washin will host a special Zazen Sitting every Sunday, so long as need and conditions allow, for Peace, Children and the Injured, supporting the Ukrainian Sangha, live from Odessa

However, Washin's sitting will be there each Sunday for now, at the same time, place and way of joining as our usual "Sunday Sitting with Shugen and Washin."

Please join us for the Sunday Sit on March 13th beginning at 6 am Los Angeles time, 9 am New York time, 2pm in London, 3pm in Paris, 4 pm Kyiv time, 5 pm Moscow time.

We will meet in the Treeleaf Now Scheduled Sitting Room: https://www.treeleaf.org/now/go.php?l=ssr

The format of the sitting will be:

    - Heart Sutra
    - Zazen 30 minutes
    - Kinhin 10 minutes
    - Zazen 30 minutes
    - Verse of Atonement
    - Four Vows
Washin will chant the Heart Sutra before Zazen each time, but will alternate languages among Ukranian, Russian and English on various days to emphasize the need for peace and understanding among all peoples in this world.

As well, Washin sometimes hosts Tonglen, like this week, so I moved that gathering over there too.

By the way, I happen to know that Washin was on a farm, just outside of Odessa, that had a reasonably safe shelter. However, we learned that he gave up his place in the shelter to a family with small children who needed it, and decided instead to return alone to his own apartment very close to the seaport of Odessa. Fortunately, it appears the Odessa remains relatively quiet for now, although a sea invasion by the Russian navy is anticipated at some point as Odessa is a major port, and shelling of that area is very likely.

Let's keep him in heart, and hope things stay quite there for awhile.

    Gassho, J
