"The best horse will run slow and fast, right and left, at the driver's will, before it sees the shadow of the whip; the second best will run as well as the first one does, just before the whip reaches its skin; the third one will run when it feels pain on its body; the fourth will run after the pain penetrates to the marrow of its bones. You can imagine how difficult it is for the fourth one to learn how to run!

"In your very imperfections you will find the basis for your firm, way-seeking mind. So I think that sometimes the best horse may be the worst horse, and the worst horse can be the best one." - Suzuki Roshi

I would really like to read this book, Kakunen. I think you have a lot of interesting stories to tell, and it is especially good to hear of the experiences of someone who ordained and is training leter in life than might be usual for a monk.

Dear All, I pass on some greetings and news from "Mr. K." (now Kakunen), our regular sitter at the Saturday Zazenkai in Tsukuba. He undertook Ordination last year, and is now in Training at a Soto Zen Temple on the island of Shikoku here in Japan (I have never been to the temple, named 城満寺

This is what I talked at Zazenkai at 1st April at Treeleaf at my talk.

As I write at here.I want to write, but maybe for me impossible to write only my
memory.I need your help and Jundo.

        I can remember,if I check this story,scribe at here.

Anyway, I could not talk and write English.
And I did not know real, kind of meaning of Zazen,Shikantaza.

                  Hi Everyone.

Is this good picture for Bad monk Kakunen?

                  Picture with Master Kodo Sawaki.

                  Or picture with my son.

                  Which is better?

                  Or another bad picture need?

So what exactly is this dharma combat hossen-shiki? Is it a ritual like home-leaving or taking the precepts? It seems more like a play in which everyone has memorized their lines--is that accurate to say?
