Come read with us: "How to Cook Your Life" by Dōgen Zenji (Samu study group)

Dear Treeleaf community, Ango'ers and Jukaiees,

If you are planning on reading the supplementary Ango samu study as suggested by Jundo, "How to Cook Your Life" by Dōgen Zenji and Kōshō Uchiyama Rōshi, and want some company, please join us!

Samu Study: Make formal study on the meaning and philosophy of Samu (work practice, the central theme of Dogen's "Instructions for the Cook"), and apply such perspectives and attitudes in your family and work duties each day. This optional to read, but wonderful, book is recommended for that: How to Cook Your Life - From the Zen Kitchen to Enlightenment (sometimes available under the title From The Zen Kitchen To Enlightenment: Refining Your Life) by Eihei Dogen and Kosho Uchiyama Roshi (LINK).
We'll be a small group of friends chatting among ourselves, not on are the forum but just among ourselves. However, if you would like to join us, please post here in this thread, or PM me, and you are welcome to be part.

    Gassho,
    Shoshō

Hey this is a great idea, and I'd love too! I usually read this in conjunction with Jundo's talks on the Tenzo Kyokun; it would be fun to have a little group reading/studying.

      LET's GO ANGO!

on second thought I’m going to bow out of this for now; I think Jukai study will keep me plenty occupied

                            Thanks for your efforts Shosho.

A tech question since I have not used Google Groups. I just reply to the emails that arrive in my email box or should I go to the group site? I assume I just respond to emails but I was trying to understand how the Google Group site fits in.

I downloaded the book and ready to start.

                            Thanks

                              Doshin,

I believe you can reply in both ways. However, it may be easier to see the whole conversation in a threaded mode (much like the Treeleaf forum) if you visit its main page on Google Groups (https://groups.google.com)

                              Hope this helps!
