    Pudgalavada Buddhist Philosophy

    Pudgalavada_Buddhist_Philosophy_Internet_Encyclopedia_of_Philosophy(1).pdf

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I found this amazing article about Pudgalavada Buddhist Philosophy from the first 1,000 years after the Buddha's death, wherein they argue for the existence of the self. I thought it was very interesting and made for thoughtful read and good anatta practice.

    Tony,
Zen folks typically avoided such philosophical debates, by our combining Emptiness, the inter-identity of Hua-yan Flower Garland Buddhism, with a bit of common sense.

Thus, there is no separate self in the flowing wholeness of all, in which one thing merges with everything, and each fully and easily contains all within, and all is precisely each.

And yet, here we are, causes and conditions having momentarily come together, such that I am writing these words myself, and you yourself are reading them.

    All true in their way.

        Tony,
Oh, great history! Zen is the product of all Buddhist history which came before.
