I think we can do a lot of things.
on one hand it's my work to help people as I'm working in a community center as a social worker. So we care about the people that have problems in this time of covid. There are many old people or those who are ill and cannot go into the supermarkets. So we arrange things that they get what they need.
But also for me and my wife, we started in April to ask our 90 year old neighbor if she needs help with anything like shopping. Since then, we started to bake her bread every 2nd week and visit her with the kids occasionally to have a little talk with her (in appropriate social distance). She is very happy to talk to someone and is liked by the kids.

The greatest lah you can do in these times is to stay home as much as possible, and when you leave the house wear a mask and observe physical distancing. That way you're lending a hand to an untold number of people.

I reckon we all should do what we can, how we can, when we can. Just being kind to yourself and looking out for each other is LAH.
I've stopped putting LAH at the end of my posts as I'm legally my partner's carer despite the role reversal this year. I think Jundo at one time reminded me that my Practice is at home.

I give a charitable donation every month but that is standard, nothing over and above what I'd normally do, I call my parents regularly and check in with them but that is not LAH, that is just me acting in alignment with my beliefs they deserve love and attention.

Apart from in my immediate home life with my partner, opportunities for Covid time human interaction are scant - so tell me your secrets, how the h - e - double hockey sticks are you managing to still lend a hand when we are all hardly seeing anyone?

I’ve found that this digital era we live in makes it super easy to show generosity and kindness most of the time without even having to move from where we’re sitting.

I actually use an app called Share The Meal, which is an initiative of the United Nations’ World Food Programme, that allows users to donate 80 cents which are used entirely to provide meals for one whole day for a person ( https://sharethemeal.org/now/?team=W...djust_t=krjp1p )

Another very easy one I use is Seva search, a search engine just like Google, that instead of using money from ads to grow their business, they donate it to feed people through the World Food Programme, which means the only thing one has to do to land a hand is to use Sev instead of Google to search for whatever they need online ( http://sevasearch.org )

I believe we lend a hand in more ways than we know. When you kindly encourage someone, when you share a useful tip online, when you smile to your local store cashier, when you say hello to a stranger on the street, you’re landing a hand. [emoji3526]

There are some wonderful examples here. Today I went grocery shopping and I usually have a large haul. I noticed there was another customer behind me, he had one item - so I let him go ahead of me. Small but saved him time out of his day - I considered this lending a hand.

" it is part of practice to just be looking for some opportunity each day." And these come often unexpected.
Recently I needed to call an airline and I was on hold for over an hour, familiar frustration rising up, but when an advisor finally picked the phone up, I chose to say "thank you for your work, I understand how much abuse you must be getting nowadays and how stressful it is for you". The guy almost broke down with tears saying that finally someone appreciated him. It was humbling for me. You never know if a tiny nice thing you do might have a huge impact on someone.
