    Announcement: Server and Forum Updates

    Hi everyone,

We have begun the process to upgrade the back-end systems and forum itself here at Treeleaf. My goal is do this in a such a way that there is minimal impact on our day to day operations, but inevitably there will be occasional outages and hiccups.

I will make periodic announcements about the process and provide progress reports in this thread.

    Gassho,
    Sekishi

Announcement: I will upgrade the hosting environment and database server this afternoon. My plan is to start this process in a few hours - around 3:30pm eastern (US).

During the updates there will be periodic outages for all of treeleaf.org (the forum, Treeleaf NOW, and the website). It is my hope that the process will be complete by 5:00pm eastern (US).

    Gassho,
    Sekishi

Proper back end maintenance is important so I totally get it. Hopefully there aren't too many unforeseen hiccups!

        Hi all,

Today's updates are finished. I do not expect there to be any impact on normal forum operations, but if anyone sees anything unusual, please do let me know!

                  Hi again everyone,

Today's upgrades made it possible for us to run two different server environments at the same time. The reason for this was so we can launch a new version of the forum on a separate "beta" site. This will allow us to test, experiment, break things, etc. without causing problems for the actual forum. Once we are happy with the new "beta" site, it will be updated one last time with all of the conversations that were continuing on the existing forum during the testing period, and then moved over to become the new forum.

I'm hoping to have the beta version up and running by Monday the 24th. If anyone would like to help with testing, please let me know.

I'm terrified and excited at the same time.

                  Gassho,
                  Sekishi

Do you want techies for the testing or regular peeps? If you want regular peeps, I'm glad to be of service.

                      Hi Sekishi

I’d be happy to be a beta-tester/crash test dummy for you.

I could help with testing as well, also if you need an extra hand researching possible technical changes I could probably help with that. I'm a computer programmer (probably won't have time for actual implementations though)
