    Shutting Down "Groups" Functionality

    Hi all,

As part of "simplification" efforts here at Treeleaf, we have been discussing shutting down the "Groups" feature.

This area of the forum is mostly under-utilized. It is partially because posts / messages in Groups do not generate notifications or show up in the "New Posts" feature. This means people have to explicitly visit them to look for new messages, and questions often go unseen / unanswered.

    1. Any strong feelings about this? If there is significant resistance to the idea, we can of course keep them.
    2. Anyone feel there are specific groups that should be re-created as subforums instead?
    3. Anyone feel there are specific resources or discussions within groups that should be saved / archived in some way?

I see no impediment to moving forward with your plan. If it's an awkward and infrequently used feature, why continue it?

        Hi all,

The "groups" tab has been removed from the navigation, and permission to access and edit Groups and old Groups messages has been removed for everyone except for group leaders (of which there are only a few), the Unsui, and Jundo. Long story short, "Groups" have been retired, but old posts can be retrieved by a select few if anyone needs anything from there.
