It is interesting that you say this can be a "relief". That word often comes to mind when I try to think of what zazen is. It's a relief. A relief of not having to prop up and constantly support this made up concept, this self invention, this cockamamie idea of what I sometimes think self is.
"This is not mine, this I am not, this is not my self."
I find it to be truly a relief. This is not mine, this I am not, this is not myself,
yet I exist.
