Oh, that looks like a really lovely exhibition, Anna! Thank you!

I particularly love the four Kannons. I was reading about willow branch Kannon and it seems that symbolism comes from Taoist roots and willow is used to ward off illness. Kuan Yin/Kannon was adopted by Taoists and combined with their own iconography during early exchanges between Buddhism and Taoism.

      Anna,
Thanks for this heads up. This is only about 40 minutes away from me by car or train. Newark also has a Portugese neighborhood where the restaurants are legendary.

        Thanks Anna, great article.

I’d love to see this but it’s 17,077 km away from where I live

Perhaps it will come to Australia one day.

I love Kannon/Guanyin. She’s been my favourite Bodhisattva ever since I read Stephen Levine's wonderful book Becoming Kuan Yin: The Evolution of Compassion.

In a world where there are far too many horrors, some images at least are healing.

Fortunately Kannon is everywhere and come on demand in one's heart, seen or unseen.
