Daily zazen - need reliable weeknight sitting rooms

Good morning,

I'm new to the community and I'm reinvigorating a zazen practice.

Yesterday I showed up to one of the sitting rooms listed on the calendar, but I was the only one there as of a few minutes after the stated start time. I wound up sitting by myself.

Granted, I run Firefox on Linux (no Chrome for me) so it's possible that it was a technical problem. However, the person who is listed as the contact for that room has yet to respond to my PM stating interest in sitting.

For someone new to the community who's looking for people online to sit with, that's not a great experience. So I figured I would put out a general message.

I'm looking for sitting rooms on weeknights where I can reasonably rely on someone else being there. I'm in U.S. Eastern time.

Sorry you had a bad first experience ... mostly folks are there, but as you know, life can be life and it takes us away. Please stick with it even the bumps along the road are good practice. =)

I for one was pulled away to a late last minute meeting, but will be sitting this evening. Not sure if it works for your time zone, but you are more then welcome to come sit.

Thank you for taking the time to express your experience and hope we can get you connected with folks. Also, not too worry about your system. I too run Linux using either Opera or Firefox and no issues.

One of the other weeknight PM sitters just had a close relative pass away a few days ago as well, so that could also be the reason for the lack of communication. As Shingen says, the bumps in the road are still the road! Funny, Jundo just talked about this at the March 22-23 Zazenkai (when a sit doesn't go as hoped, that is). You can sit with that Zazenkai and many others in the "Weekly Friday/Saturday Zazenkai Netcast" Forum, they are there for everyone to enjoy!

Thank you for the helpful responses... good points all. I'll keep sitting and occasionally giving the FSR and scheduled sitting rooms a go... and of course there is Saturday night Zazenkai too.

Very good ... =)

Just a note ... zazenkai is actually on Friday nights, unless you live in Japan or over in that area. But I see you are in the US, so it would be Friday night (again, if you are sitting live).
