I wrote this elsewhere today on the Koan of Zazen, and I hope it is okay to post here:

Shikantaza Zazen does nothing to change circumstances, not you, life or this world. However, by radically dropping all need or demand for change of circumstances, dropping resistance and desire that this self-life-world be as we might otherwise wish them to be, and by allowing all, being fully content by pouring oneself into nothing more than the act of sitting itself thus letting the Flowing Wholeness just flow ... everything changes (at least, our experience of everything changes, and our self changes thereby). Desires, demands, frictions that mark our little self's resistance to circumstances drop away. The barriers between life-world-self soften or fall away.

Then getting up from the sitting cushion, we can actually do some work and make some needed repairs on this self life and world filled with problems great and small ... all while also knowing that there is nothing to change or which needs to be repaired. Thus, Zazen changes nothing at all, and everything changes.

I have seen this also, in fact it is one of my favorite videos by Okumura Roshi! Thank you for posting it, it is a good reminder for the New Year, and goes along quite well with Jundo's New Year sit-a-long!

Teaching from Shohaku Okumura at Sanshin-ji at US

I practiced at Antaiji few years ago.

I can always touch day of practice at there.Very very hard days.

Okumura-Roshi was training under Sawaki-roshi and Uchiyama-roshi.

Now I practice at Myotokuji and Seikokuji.
My both teacher train under Sakai-roshi and Sawaki-roshi.

Uchiyama-roshi is very famous in the world.
But Sakai-roshi was also training under Sawaki-roshi.

Sakai-roshi is not famous in the world.
And my both teacher is not famous in the world.

I think I want to become,as I am.Kakunen is Kakunen.
Want to sit,want to eat,want to smile.want to lose way,sometimes.

With all beings.

Anyway I will enjoy my life with you　(^_-)-☆Treeleaf.
