I just bought this and have it in mind to read it during Ango along with some other goodies I've been saving, including Realizing Genjo Koan and oh yes, A Heart to Heart Chat on Buddhism with Old Master Gudo, by one Jundo Cohen.
I'm so looking forward to Ango!

I've been saving these two as well but after Jundo's intro, Shohaku Okumura Roshi's new book will soon be in my ebook collection. I will look at this as a measure of my experience to date. Sounds like a future Book Club selection for sure.

Thank you, but that was Nishijima Roshi's book. I was just the translator.

Yes, I should have made that clear. With the dialogue between teacher/student format, it makes an interesting follow on to Moon/Fischer's What is Zen.
          Thank you Jundo.

I'm still happily plodding (and occasionally weeping) my way through Realising Genjokoan but I look forward to reading this in the future.

Thank you for sharing this, Jundo. I've only felt what you describe here a handful of times, each very precious.

With such a strong endorsement how could I not. Thank you for the recommendation. It is now in my Kindle library...just one digital book away.

I finally started reading it, and I see why Jundo Roshi recommends this book so highly. Having been privileged to read Jundo’s manuscript, he and Okumura are exactly in the same wavelength, saying very similar things in slightly different ways.

These are both very special books.

My copy came in the mail today. I have read the sutra many times. One of my favorites. Looking forward to new insights.

                        Access

                        Folks,

For access to the text, I use Scribd. $5.99/month where I am and there are hundreds of key texts on the site. I don't mean to plug a commercial product on Treeleaf, but for me where I live in Indonesia, getting the texts has often been hard. There's Wisdom publications, and I've bought from them too, but for those on a super-tight budget, Scribd may really help.

Tom, thanks for the heads up. I checked them out and it looks like a good deal. I am going to give it a try...first month free, hard to argue with that
