Ebay is great for bargains. I found a large mokugyo there a while ago for 9.99 from China. I wouldn't mind having a look at that guy's shop...the large bell was really beautiful.

They are fine, Chinese style. A bit different in handling than the Japanese (e.g., you can't tamp the top because of the chain, and the metal is a bit different in doing so from wood). Also, a bit more of a "ting" than a "ring" sound. Otherwise, same but different.
