Zen and the art of temple garden maintenance
I am sorry
I am Japanese
So I know this video is fake.
Monk do not keep garden for practice.
You must understand this fact.
I think this is kind bad dream.
If you will come Japan ,you will realize.
Please come to Japan and keep garden without money.

I think that for many priests, gardening is not a spiritual practice. But for some priests, it is. Depends on the person. (Not so much for me, but I pull weeds and trim some hedges, which I find good Practice too).

I'm pretty sure I remember from the video that the priest mentioned that most temples hire gardeners. I think the point of the video was to feature the few priests that make it part of temple practice. However, I do not speak Japanese, and only read the subtitles, so he could have been talking about anything and I wouldn't know.

I think about this video.
I am sure in this temple professional gardener and monk named business man keep garden.
Almost garden at city side like Kyoto is same situation.
Japanese Buddhism almost die.
From my experience, difficult to find place to sit everyday ,especially Sesshin.
Sharing video at Antaiji, not so beautiful.
