Lovely idea, I’ve started following on Twitter. Hive (a U.K. website that sources from and supports high street booksellers, I don’t know if they ship internationally) currently has copies of the Tanahashi book for £65 as opposed to the usual £95.

Even better. If you look at Amazon UK, there are third-party sellers who have it for much less.

The Treasury of the True Dharma Eye: ZEN Master Dogen's Shobo Genzo : Kazuaki Tanahashi: Amazon.co.uk: Books

Book Depository is owned by Amazon, and they have it for £54. However, if you buy it from the Book Depository website, it's £95. Sneaky...

You can even order it from Amazon US, via Amazon UK, and, with shipping, it comes to less than £50.

And in the US, Amazon.com currently has it for less than $60:

Treasury of the True Dharma Eye: Zen Master Dogen's Shobo Genzo [Tanahashi, Kazuaki] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Treasury of the True Dharma Eye: Zen Master Dogen's Shobo Genzo

If you have a Kindle, it's a good idea to check the price every now and then. I bought it a few years ago for around £20. I had added it to my Amazon wish list, and checked regularly, and managed to catch it on sale. I don't know why the price dropped so much, because it generally costs more in ebook form than it does in print. Go figure.

        Gassho,

        Kirk

              Lovely idea!
Please also remember the Nishijimi/Cross version is free and contains *extensivly* researched foot notes which provide an awesome explanation for many points.

Jundo, the "how to read Do gen" link is not working for me. I'm eagerly awaiting your letters to Do gen book; very clever idea :-)

Jishin I subbed the CNN but can not find your column.......

Jundo's instructions are really useful, but my goal this year is to read it without thinking too much about it. After I've gone through it four times, the ideas and the language will be more familiar, and then I can start reading certain fascicles paying more attention to them. Kind of like playing a record a bunch of times before trying to copy a guitar solo. :-)

No need to do this since you will be editing Jundo's book! Lol.

                          Hi Kirk,

How are you getting on with this? Any pearls of wisdom? Even a single bright one?

Good timing; I just finished today’s reading. Lots of pearls of wisdom, here’s a particularly nice one from last week:

Each moment is all being, each moment is the entire world. Reflect now whether any being or any world is left out of the present moment.

                            Gassho,
