Is it too late for me to join in with this years Jukai?

Hello Kunzang,
Yes I am afraid that it is too late this year to sew, as we don't have much time left. You are more then welcome to follow along with the precept study and discussion, which you can find here (https://www.treeleaf.org/forums/foru...glen-Too%21%29). Also, in the meantime, Jukai is not just ABOUT time and space, yet rather IS time and space ... so you can start practicing the qualities of the precepts right now in this moment.
When next year rolls around, again you are more then welcome to undertake Jukai. =)

Hi Kunzang,
I would say so, as the sewing and such takes time, and should not be rushed.
However, live gently today and seek to avoid harm to others and oneself (other and oneself, "not two" by the way). Study each of the Precepts at any time. You can also audit the Ceremony, and take the vows in January, and they would be real vows. It is just that the Rakusu sewing should wait for next time, so there would be no Rakusu and Dharma Name this time.
In my view, the Ceremony itself is just a Celebration, a confirmation, of how one lives each day. That is most important.
The next Jukai preparations are scheduled for September.
No worries Kunzang, when the time is right, the time is right. But also as Jundo said below ... be there in Jan 2018, audit the ceremony, feel the precepts in your heart, and allow them to flow out of you in your life. When Sept 2018 rolls around, then we can sew together. =)
