How do you sit on Shilantaza style?

I am at Myouokuji ,2 hour from Kyoto.

Head monk Furasaka ,his teacher is Tokugen Sakai. And Sakai is 1st monk of Kodo Sawaki.

In the world Uchiyama ,Deshimaru,Nishijima is very famous, but Sakai is 1st monk.

After Sawaki died ,Sangha made book of his history,Sakai produce this one.

And here is temple do Sesshin 15 days at month.Maybe here is most sitting place in the world, more than Antaiji.

Head monk Furasaka said to me ,do not too much effort ,sit more naturally.

But Muho said to me,please effort and do not move at sit.

Which is truth?I do not know.

Sakai said for us , just in full lotus and make hokkaijyoin, and if you think something, let it go.I sit this style. This mean ,we became Buddha.

I think we are just being, same as flower weeds animal.

If you understand this things ,you can sit like a flower, weeds.

This mean we are part of planet.

No,We live in earth.Earth allow us to be here.

    I think this is Shikantaza.

    Please teach me your opinion.

    Well, just the same....

... but I encourage effort witbout effort (為 無為), not too loose or too tight, and sitting beyond long or short. Sometimes we sit long time of 15 hours or 15 days or 15 Kalpa, and sometimes we sit short time of 15 minutes or 15 seconds or 15 ksanna. ... but always sit beyond and forgetting all human measure of time. A moment of Zazen is all time, no time, just this instant of being-time 有時. All good Sitting.

Lotus Posture is not the only way to sit. We Sit Down to recall that Sitting is Sitting, but also not a matter of sitting or standing, movement or stillness, up or down.

What I want to say is

Jundo this is difficult to express English for me?

      Can you help to translate?

        Hi,

        この法は、人々の分上にゆたかにそなわれりといえども、いまだ修せざるにはあらはれず、証せざ るにはうるこ となし
This is from the opening lines of Master Dogen's Bendowa, " This Dharma is abundantly present in each human being, but if we do not practice it, it does not manifest itself, and if we do not experience it, it cannot be realized. " (Nishijima-Cross) or "Though each man has Buddha-nature in abundance, he cannot make it appear without practice or live it without enlightenment." (Masunaga).

        The whole (Nishijima):

When the buddha-tathāgatas,1 each having received the one-to-one transmission of the splendid Dharma, experience the supreme state of bodhi, they possess a subtle method that is supreme and without intention. The reason this [method] is transmitted only from buddha to buddha, without deviation, is that the samādhi of receiving and using the self is its standard. For enjoyment of this samādhi, the practice of [za]zen, in the erect sitting posture, has been established as the authentic gate. This Dharma is abundantly present in each human being, but if we do not practice it, it does not manifest itself, and if we do not experience it, it cannot be realized. When we let go, it has already filled the hands; how could it be defined as one or many? When we speak, it fills the mouth; it has no restriction in any direction.
        (Masunaga)

The various Buddhas and Tathagatas have a most enlightened way of realizing superior wisdom and transmitting the supreme law. When transmitted from Buddha to Buddha, its mark is self-joyous meditation. To enter this meditation naturally, right sitting is the true gate. Though each man has Buddha-nature in abundance, he cannot make it appear without practice or live it without enlightenment. If you let it go, it fills your hand; it transcends the one and many. If you talk about it, it fills your mouth; it is beyond measurement by height and width.
As I said, it is beyond measure ... when you let go, it fills the hand ... Get up from the cushion, and bring it to life.

Then, as you say, it is not a matter of the Lotus, but of piercing the Fukanzazengi, Bendowa and such.

                  Hi Kakunen

I sit in half lotus posture and put effort into having my back straight. I have noticed that whenever the mind drifts away is because I have bent my back. So I just sit not too tight, not to comfortable.

I think what matters is that we remain without moving and then the mind follows the body. But that's just my opinion.

We sit and let Mother Earth spin. We sit and become still, like a rock.
