And let me just mention that this is an event where I bow out, leave all to our priests to arrange and carry out ...

... they are on their own, but everyone is in excellent hands.

It is the day to prove that I'm no longer needed around here.

Who here is excited about this Saturday´s retreat? Show me your hands, please

I hope many of you can find a way to join this weekend’s practice. I’ll kick things off in the European time zone with the morning sit, which concludes with the long morning service.

After a short breakfast break, Kotei will deliver the first Dharma talk of the day, on the topic of the mind of Awakening, or bodhicitta. We’ll then hopefully have a lively discussion for a short time.

We’ll return with Kotei for more zazen before the noon service. After a short break, European participants can either finish for the day or rejoin to practice with the North American side of the sangha, who will begin their own morning sit. Shujin will lead practice and officiate the morning service, with Seikan serving as ino.

After the break, I’ll return to give the second Dharma talk of the retreat, again on the topic of bodhicitta. Hopefully, we’ll have another good discussion afterwards. I’ll make sure to say something outrageous to give you plenty of ammunition for the chat

After the lunch break, Koriki will lead another period of zazen and kinhin, and he'll close the retreat with a short service, with Shujin as ino.

Please remember THERE IS NO FRIDAY ZAZENKAI this week. Instead, we invite you to join the retreat for as much of it as you can manage.

      See you Saturday!

Actually, there is ... but only here in Tsukuba. We are having a local sit this time, only for folks in Japan, no netcast. Of course, everyone is welcome ... but they must come here.

Looking forward to tomorrow!! I’m going to do my best to be there for the whole thing- I just started a new medication which has some side effects so I might have to bow out partway through- we’ll see how this goes! (The side effects aren’t dangerous, just uncomfortable).

I left the zendo earlier as there was an air alert and I had to go to work afterwards.
Thank you everyone for practicing together.
Thank you Kotei and Bion for an excellent organization.

Is there a recording anywhere? I’ve looked on YouTube and can’t find anything there.

                            Hi Hoshuku,

Both of the morning services and Dharma talks were recorded and are now available on the 2016 Spring Retreat web page:

I don't believe that the zazen and kinhin periods were recorded, but others can correct me if I'm mistaken.

I tried using the links but it just took me to the usual YouTube page and I couldn’t find the recordings. No worries, I just used the time to sit by myself.
