I am only a novice monk, and not a teacher so don't pay too much attention to my opinions, but one thing stands out to me -
No one has yet asked you what you need? Or perhaps I phrased clumsily - what help would you like that we don’t seem to have offered as yet?

Any words I write here are merely the thoughts of an apprentice priest, just my opinions, that's all.

Thanks for such kind consideration to my post.
All the responses have been very helpful. I am already taking part in some of the opportunities mentioned and plan more during this new year.
My desire was to gain a better understanding of the options here. Again, thanks for all the input on that.
My needs, desires are much different now at 62 than as a 20-some setting out in earnest in a contemplative landscape that was tougher to navigate. My approach much more simple and no longer goal oriented.
      Deep bow to you all.

Until I encountered Treeleaf, when I asked about jukai in Japanese Soto contexts, none of the laity even knew what I was talking about. At the other end of the scale, my partner received the precepts after buying a ¥500 ticket at the tourist information center at the Shingon Buddhist HQ on Koya-san. Both of these seem regrettable.
