    New meditation shed

Now that I have more time, I’ve turned our old summerhouse into a permanent meditation shed .
I’m not brave enough to call it a zendo!

I wondered if there is any short ceremony appropriate to ‘consecrate’ the space, I feel that somehow it should be set apart for its intended new purpose.

    Any suggestions very welcome

Some arty pictures of the shed below!

You know my love for the shed!!!! This is great news!
I would offer incense, chant the Heart Sutra, write a little dedication, where you might wish that all the practice realized in that space benefits all beings, that the environment it creates helps you put in place the causes necessary for yourself and everyone you come in touch with to be free of suffering, happy and ease. You may want to dedicate the space to all our ancestors up until today who have contributed to us getting access to the dharma and to practice. Next Fusatsu, when we do the water purification, you can also sprinkle some of that water in all four corners of the space. But, most importantly, I would mark the occasion with zazen. Best thing that can be offered!

Looks great. I have been working the past week to build out my sacred meditation space. Will post pictures when it's done.

Thanks! It's our old summerhouse, I just stripped it back to bare wood inside. Quite austere, but I like that kind of minimal feel.
