[FutureBuddha] Engaged Buddhists for Responsible AI

I am content to say that I have been invited to join the association ...
    .
    Engaged Buddhists for Responsible AI:
Empowering Buddhist voices to shape a humane AI future.

Engaged Buddhists for Responsible AI aims to equip Buddhist communities and institutions globally to meaningfully engage in the conversation around AI safety and ethics. Through research, coalition-building, and advocacy, we hope to empower Buddhist voices to ensure AI is developed for the benefit of all beings. ...

We envision this initiative laying the foundation for future impactful projects at the intersection of Buddhism and AI, such as:

Co-creating a statement from global Buddhist communities on possible pathways toward humane AI

Facilitating meaningful dialogue between Buddhist stakeholders and AI safety experts & policymakers

Undertaking technical research projects on how to skillfully use AI to uphold the Dharma (e.g., through training Buddhist AI models)

Enabling grassroots work to support global well-being in the face of transformative AI
Engaged Buddhists for Responsible AI is a project which aims to bridge the gap between traditional Buddhist communities and institutions and the rapid progress in the field of artificial intelligence.

In a world where A.I. will be misused and abused, but seemingly is here to stay, we must strive for ethical, humane and positive uses.

By the way, my interview is featured in Tricycle on our Ordination of Rev. Emi Jido. I should have some links to share soon.

Thanks Jundo for stirring the pot in Tricycle (Fall 2025) by introducing Emi Jido to converts and skeptics alike. I noticed James Shaheen, Editor-in-Chief of Tricycle, in his Editorial piece, was "not entirely convinced" yet "cautiously hopeful". I'm currently studying the Avatamsaka Sutra, and it doesn't

I'm glad to hear this this organization exists and that you have been invited to participate.

AI has the potential to offer humanity many wonderful benefits, but it must be wielded skillfully and ethically like any other tool. Kitchen knives can help feed the world, but they can also take life if used unethically.
