A Guide to Navigating the Treeleaf Homepage

    Hi, all.
I thought, since we're continuously working on improving what Treeleaf offers, it would be a nice and useful thing to give you all a little visual guide to navigating the Treeleaf website/homepage.

The website is the gateway to practice opportunities, teachings and the forum, as well as a window into everything Treeleaf has to offer. For those of us who are already Treeleaf members, the homepage can help point to the right forum threads, the right meeting pages, the recommended discussions, and it can help us stay on top of eveyrhing happening so we can wisely use our time and stay fully updated on sangha activities and teachings. For those not yet members, the website is a hassle free environment where they can figure out what Treeleaf is all about and how we practice, and explore the possibility of practicing and studying here.

So, what is on the homepage?

    1. The Navigation menu can take you to sections such as About us, Lineage, Beginner's Place, Weekly and Monthly Zazenkai, Groups, Events, Resources. The submenus are packed with resources, so please explore.

    2. Homepage main sections: Practice Opportunities, Dharma Teachings and Community. These three cute icons are links to sections inside the homepage. Click on them and the page automatically scrolls to take you to the right place.

    3. The sections. Practice Opportunities is the space for the daily, weekly and monthly practice meetings, as well as special events such as precept discussions, book club meetings, guest teachers, Jukai etc.. Anything new, upcoming or recently ended is there, so we can jump right in or catch up on. Everything in this section is updated regularly, so you never have to miss anything.

    4. Dharma Section contains teachings. Whatever is offered by Jundo on the forum, for example, you can also find in a nice web formatted version in this section. A complete list of articles available is easily accesible from this section, by simply clicking on Visit The Teachings Archive. This section could also contain videos or even audio tracks.

    5. The Notice Board. This is found on the homepage and it is updated regularly. Here you can see what's coming next at Treeleaf. You'll find here dates and links to meetings, announcements, deadlines and whatever else might be relevant to us. At a glance, for example, without any other effort, anyone can see if there's a new Precept Discussion posted and access it with a click, if there's a new list of recommended discussions, if the book club has a meeting or if a new podcast episode is posted.

    6. Inside the pages, you can find, where it is relevant, a Digital Resources section. From here you can download study materials, the latest versions of chant books, handouts, see calendars etc. You'll find this section at the bottom of certain pages, like the Weekly or Monthly Zazenkai, for example.

    7. Topic Hubs are the pages that compile all the posts regarding specific topics. Wherever a page has a tag on top, like in the photo below, check if it is clickable. It might take you to the root page of that section. For example, the tag | events , when clicked, will take you to the events page. The tag | precepts will take you to the precept study page, etc...

There are plenty more things to include here, such as the bodhisattvas in action section, reading list, home practice page, calendar page, etc, but I hope this helps stir your curiosity to explore on your own, if you haven't done that already. Some of the menus on the forum page also lead back to the homepage, like the practice calendar, notices or the Zoom rooms. Treeleaf is a rich ecosystem, including forum, homepage, Zoom, social media, YouTube, Insight Timer and other platforms. The main goal is to nourish and support everyone's practice and study of the dharma.

    Enjoy exporing!
