    Zen Sports: Chess

Anyone here enjoy chess? My daughter has been playing and asked me for a game. We've played a few games recently and it's rekindled my enjoyment. I haven't played much for the last few years and I'm a little rusty. I was never too great of a player but I find myself wanting to improve. I've been doing puzzles on Lichess.

Would anyone here fancy a game? My handle is usuallymatt on Lichess if you want to play a game.

Hello Matt! I'm not on Lichess, but I am on chess.com as ameliageika if you or anyone else wants to add me and play.

Oh I've heard chess.com is a pretty good platform, too. I'll check it out.

This thread is very timely as I've been getting back into both Chess and Go lately. For Chess, which platform is best for ongoing casual play? That is, which is best for a game played over the course of days, not necessarily a "live" game played in real time? I was starting to look at chess.com, but I haven't gotten too far yet... ;-)

Chess.com and Lichess do what you're asking although I prefer Lichess as it's 100% free and open source.

If it is okay, I will eventually migrate this thread to our "Arts and Sports" area so that we can keep it ...

Open to anyone who either practices an art-form or music, or who is seeking to develop an art-form, from traditional modes such as painting, sculpting and writing to video/filmmaking/animation, audio/music, digital, installation and more, centered on Soto Zen and Buddhist expression. No ranking or judgement, just a spirit of fun and sharing. Also, sports for the "goalless" Zen bodymind.

I learned the basics as a kid and used to play. I never learned any strategy though, that’s something that’s always been on my bucket list.

I have played some. I haven't played in a while though. I'm on Lichess, username RoniRoo (named after my dog LOL).

Sounds like we're in the same boat, Kelly. I'll add you. Thanks for the heads up Jundo. I didn't realize there was an Arts and Sports section. I'll have to go take a look.

Just registered on chess.com as I like having the learning content they offer and the ability to play against their adaptive bots. I'm "seikanrob" on there if folks want to connect and play slow, leisurely games. ;-)

                      Hi Guys,

As I mentioned, I moved this discussion to our "ZenSports" area (not knowing what else to call chess ) so that we can keep the discussion. There is also a link to be found where it was originally posted.

I am more of a tic-tac-toe guy myself, although my neighbors chicken usually beats me at that.
