Picture of my son attending his first Taekwondo class. Watching him is like watching myself when I was that age - we both have the same loud laugh, the same enthusiasm - I look at him and I go, "oh my buddha I have a Mini-me!

As I am an Animal Services Officer and Wildlife Rehabilitator, I often find myself the caretaker of animals who have suffered at the hands of humans. Most recently I was presented with this beautiful female coyote. coyote.jpg Her only crime was having a new neighbor move in adjacent to our cities 1200 acre nature preserve. The new neighbor did not like the idea of (gasp) wild animals near her home and laid out steel jaw traps outside of her privacy fenced yard. Well a fence repairman called us out and we found this beauty with her foot stuck in the trap. We took her back to our facility where she was provided a large, safe, covered enclosure and we treated her injuries (a broken toe that had exposed bone) fed her well, watched her for a few days. Tonight at dusk she was set free. Please keep her in your thoughts. Yes the property owner was cited as it is a crime to use these traps here.

I love coyotes. I always feel honoured when one crosses my path in the river valley.

Nindo it is good for my heart to hear those words. Lucy, thank you for that, she is beautiful and it hurt me to see the confusion in her eyes. She is free now and I am grateful. Today I was honored by nature to take care of some of her babies, 3 Eastern Fox Squirrel babies, about 3 weeks of age. babies.jpg I will raise them until they are about 16 weeks of age, gradually reducing the amount of time I spend feeding them and having any contact so that they are truly wild when they are released.

Love all these pics! Raf, which one in the pic is your son? So cute!

The wildlife pictures are amazing and beautiful. Poor coyote girl, I hope she finds her way back to her buddies. I do see some positive attitude change in our rural area, the older farmers unfortunately just consider them vermin and shoot them on sight... but a lot of us here now revel in their sounds and rare appearances, (and from the sounds we hear at night, they are plentiful!)

Wow very beautiful photos indeed! What's going on in the pictures on top, it looks like some kind of a Native American ritual or dance?
