When you allow that which is (aka Buddha Nature) to perform like this, the Buddhas and Ancestors sing and dance for joy with you. Thanks for dialing this up to 11, Jundo.

Brilliant! I had never seen this performance of Cage's classic work before. Then again, 4'33" is performed by the universe for us all the time. We just have to listen...

          Death metal at its finest

Most people probably know that John Cage had a large interest in Zen which included a relationship with D T Suzuki: https://www.themarginalian.org/2012/...ge-kay-larson/

            I love this piece.

I had a good friend in High School who's dad studied with Cage.

It was interesting hearing him talk about Cage. Cage was an interesting cat.

            Quotes:

            “Everything we do is music."

“I am trying to be unfamiliar with what I'm doing.”

“It is not irritating to be where one is. It is only irritating to think one would like to be somewhere else.”

“A 'mistake' is beside the point, for once anything happens it authentically is.”

“Every something is an echo of nothing”

“Why do you not do as I do? Letting go of your thoughts as though they were the cold ashes of a long dead fire?”

“You can feel an emotion, just don't think that it's so important.”

“Each something is a celebration of the nothing that supports it.”

            ― John Cage

On the theme of death metal, I am not entirely sure what the first patriarch would have thought about this song about him! The video contains footage of Zen practice from Yokoji (California) I think.

I think the screaming represents the actual sound Huike made when he cut off his arm.

I think I prefer the one with no sound.
