    ARTS: Strayhorn and Dogen

Today I started Jundo’s “The Zen Master’s Dance,” and his description of Dogen as a classically trained jazz musician resonated with me. It also inspired me to listen through some of my pandemic recordings, and I had forgotten about this one. Here’s my rendition (at the time) of Billy Strayhorn’s “Take the ‘A’ Train.”

Please excuse any indication that I am trying to teach anything. I am a priest in training and have no qualifications or credentials to teach Zen practice or the Dharma.
