    Anyone tried this?

Japanese artist Masayo Fukuda hand-cuts an incredible life-sized paper octopus from just one sheet of paper.

Wowsa! I've seen papercutting but never tried it, I don't have the patience or skill. This is a beautiful piece, thank you for sharing it here Onka.
Also thank you for introducing the modern met website, it looks like a great resource.

        Thanks Onka,

I purchased a second hand book and cutting knife a while back. I'd bought some very pretty
Christmas cards that were paper cut designs and thought I'd have a go.

It takes a lot of focus/patience - the work produced by paper cut artists is staggering - but not to be put off start
with a simple design - like a single flower - and it can be a very satisfying, meditative process.

I feel enthused to have another go now!

I did some Scherenschnitte as a child after seeing some pieces by grandmother made. I've never seen a piece remotely as beautiful as that octopus though!

Thank you for sharing; that’s breathtakingly beautiful, especially as it’s made from fragile paper.

It reminds me of this actual documentary on actual Japanese folding and cutting masters ...
