    [HealthDharma] Recovery

Another topic regarding our health, lives and practice (and one often overlooked or avoided,) is addiction, alcoholism and recovery.
It needs to be noted again- clearly- that nobody's a "professional" anything... we're all just sharing ideas and experiences.
With that, it'd be great to hear some experiences in this subject. Are any of us in recovery? Active use? Survived a family member's illness?
It's something we need to strip of shame and stigma.
We're in a completely safe place.
Let's talk, and slay some dragons!

Sat Today. Gonna sit some more.
Lent a hand... it's what we do.

I'm still just starting to learn. I'm not a teacher. Please don't take anything I say too seriously. I already take myself too seriously!

I live with a loved one who is an alcoholic. Currently, three of my close family members are active alcoholics, and many of my family are addicts who have since luckily recovered and remain sober, to my knowledge.

I am also here to offer support to anyone who is suffering because of addiction.

It is a terrible disease. A great man knew what he was talking about when he called it, "Cunning; baffling and powerful "
Very glad to hear that you've seen so many happy endings. The insidiousness of this thing makes any kind of recovery truly awesome to behold!
