The 103rd of 108 Gates Of Dharma Illumination

    Gate One Hundred and three
Read the following, place it in your heart and sleep on it. Then, tomorrow, live it until evening when you can leave a brief comment on what you may have received during the process.

Accomplishment of the state of dhāranī is a gate
of Dharma illumination; for [with it] we hear the Dharma of all the buddhas and are able to receive and retain it.

Dharani : A mystical verse or chant used as a mnemonic device to convey the essence of an entire sutra or fascicle thereof.
By “Dharma Gate”, We mean a teaching or practice that can lead to spiritual growth: some kind of positive outcome in terms of our practice. A way to approach the truth.

    Koans:
"The magical side of Buddhism is one of the tradition’s most closely guarded secrets. Not because it is hidden, but because western imperialistic tradition has shunned the ritual, sorcerous side of the Dharma in favor of a more rationalistic approach. And yet, like an unlaid ghost, the vast literary corpus known as Dharani sits, begging for study and practice.
In The Compassionate Sorcerer, the first on our series of Dharani Incantations, Lamas Dorje Sherab & Federico Andino walk you through an exciting area of Buddhist practice: the visualization and chanting of magic formulae called Dharanis. In a clear, easy to follow language they explain the classification of Dharanis in Buddhism. Talk about the main figure of this booklet, the Buddha Avalokiteshvara, Lord of Compassion, provides you with a new translation of the incantation called the 108 names of Lord Avalokiteshvara; and give you a ritual guideline for when and how to do the practice.
This new series throws open a door into a neglected but incredible treasury: the chests full of Dharani incantations that have been long ignored."
