Gate Seventy-four
Read the following, place it in your heart and sleep on it. Then, tomorrow, live it until evening when you can leave a brief comment on what you may have received during the process.

Abandonment, as a part of the state of truth, is a gate of Dharma illumination; for [with it] we [can] turn away from all kinds of lives.
Abandonment : being in harmonious or proper arrangement; proportional

By “Dharma Gate”, We mean a teaching or practice that can lead to spiritual growth: some kind of positive outcome in terms of our practice. A way to approach the truth.

Because they don't grumble any more,

Because they don't make a nuisance

Of themselves any more"

Similarly I always like the Shunryu Suzuki quote,

Renunciation is not giving up the things of this world, but accepting that they go away

It can be difficult to abandon or renounce things, their negative connotations come from a place of clinging and desperation.
These positive definitions come from a place not of casting away, but of realizing they are already gone, that there is nothing to let go of. How beautiful.

For the assignment maybe I would say;

What is there left to turn away from?
If you really look past distraction
Surely you see there was none.
