The 49th of 108 Gates Of Dharma Illumination

    Gate Forty-nine
Read the following, place it in your heart and sleep on it. Then, tomorrow, live it until evening when you can leave a brief comment on what you may have received during the process.

Equality of all elements is a gate of Dharma illumination; for it obviates all rules for harmonious association.

By “Dharma Gate”, We mean a teaching or practice that can lead to spiritual growth: some kind of positive outcome in terms of our practice. A way to approach the truth.

Koan: "The asshole doesn't need to be ashamed of being the asshole. The feet have no reason to go on strike just because they are only feet. The head isn't the most important of all, and the navel doesn' t need to immagine he's the father of all things. The nose can't replace the eyes, nor can the mouth replace the ears. Everything has its own identity, which is unsurpassable in the whole universe."
    - To You, Zen Sayings of Kodo Sawaki, pg 4

For the want of a battle
    The kingdom was lost.
All for the want of a nail.

    Is that so!

In true equanimity the rules by which we accord ourselves harmoniously can fall away as things can be harmonious naturally.
These rules after all can be as much a source of suffering as any other distinction.
