Gate Forty-eight
Read the following, place it in your heart and sleep on it. Then, tomorrow, live it until evening when you can leave a brief comment on what you may have received during the process.
Hidden expedient means are a gate of Dharma illumination; for they are sensitive to many kinds of suffering.
By “Dharma Gate”, We mean a teaching or practice that can lead to spiritual growth: some kind of positive outcome in terms of our practice. A way to approach the truth.
Koan: "I found one bright pearl in my pocket. What a treasure! What a joy! How come it was with me all the time and I didn't know? I saw a friend in need, covered in tears. I gave my pearl to her, she'll need it more than me. I found a treasure - I gained nothing. I gave my treasure away - I lost nothing. My heart, One Bright Pearl Inexhaustible in All Ten Directions."
