The 46th of 108 Gates Of Dharma Illumination

    Gate Forty-six
Read the following, place it in your heart and sleep on it. Then, tomorrow, live it until evening when you can leave a brief comment on what you may have received during the process.

The view to expiate causes is a gate of Dharma illumination; for [with it] we attain salvation.

Expiate: to atone for; make amends or reparation

    Verse of Atonement:
All harmful acts, words and thoughts
Ever commmitted by me since of old
On account of beginningless greed, anger and ignorance
Born of my body, mouth and mind
Now I atone for them all.

By “Dharma Gate”, We mean a teaching or practice that can lead to spiritual growth: some kind of positive outcome in terms of our practice. A way to approach the truth.

    Koans:

    Most note worthy replies :
    I extinguish anger with patience.
Watching how it slowly flickers away.
Those whom I've burnt with harsh words
    I keep in deep loving-kindness
    .

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that atonement is not a “one and done” affair.
It is more of an ongoing process—evolving, but without end.

    We fall down often
    Then get up
    Again and again

All beings being one, forgiving another is forgiving yourself.
