    48/108 Gates of Dharma Illumination

    The Forty-eighth Gate

Hidden expedient means are a gate of Dharma illumination; for they
are sensitive to many kinds of suffering

    Those with least are often
    Those with most to share.

I think Nengei nailed the subtlety of this one, but for what it's worth...

      So often unseen
      Yet the moon
      Keeps the tides flowing

I found one bright pearl in my pocket
What a treasure! What a joy! How come it was with me all the time and I didn't know?
I saw a friend in need, covered in tears. I gave my pearl to her, she'll need it more than me.
        I found a treasure - I gained nothing
I gave my treasure away - I lost nothing.
My heart, One Bright Pearl Inexhaustible in All Ten Directions.
