    40/108 Gates of Dharma Illumination

    The Fortieth Gate

Not being foolish is a gate of Dharma illumination; for it stops the killing of living things.

      If you fail to see
      The meaning in right now
How can you hope to find
      The power of the snowflake
As it tumbles to the ground?

      Gassho,
      Nengei

Please excuse any indication that I am trying to teach anything. I am a priest in training and have no qualifications or credentials to teach Zen practice or the Dharma.

Nengei, wonderful and powerful verse my friend!

This one seems overly simple to my brain, but I can't help think that it all comes down to how well we respect and value life.

        Carelessness with life
        So foolish
        Why act like a fool?

        Gassho,
        Seikan

          Aprapti;

Thank you for attending. When on the Blog I was able to see you attending most every day. We all process the Dharma in our own way. I'm just glad to hear that you are receiving something from it. Thank you for your practice and sharing your perspective.

Mmm...there are a myriad ways to "kill" and even more ways to "kill" if we fail to seek to know what we're doing.

My humble offering Shokai and all

Not killing by gun, poison or garrote are quite obviously methods; and there are ways to kill without physical means. Best not to include Foolishness and no apologies required.
