The Eighty-seventh of 108 Gates Of Dharma Illumination

The Eighty-seventh Gate: The dāna pāramitā

The dāna pāramitā is a gate of Dharma illumination; for [with it], in every instance, we cause features to be pleasant, we adorn the Buddhist land, and we teach and guide stingy and greedy living beings. (Nishijima/Cross)
The realization of the giving state is a gate of realizing dharma; it leads to attaining a joyful appearance each moment, embellishing the buddha land, and freeing sentient beings from greed. (Tanahashi)

    Gate Gatha:
    May we, together with all buddhas;
    Practice the Dana Paramita
That we may be a light unto all beings

    Reflection Prompts:
    1. How does generosity bring light unto all beings
    2. Comment on the Gate Gatha.
    3. Write a new Capping Verse

    Capping Verse:
    Our light is endless
    Why not share
    A little bit more?

    1. Because generosity is kindness in action… it brings wholesome and good feeling to all involved. it also inspires those who have received generosity to become generous, and in turn, when the kindness is passed on and continued, that light can spread through the whole world…

    2. I personally think it’s a nice gatha, it calls for generosity for all beings. Right on the mark!

    3. The path to Buddha land
    One does not walk it,
But give, give, and give forward

I can’t say it any better than this.
