The Eighty-third Gate: The Bodhi-mind

The bodhi-mind is a gate of Dharma illumination; for [with it] we are not separated from the Three Treasures. (Nishijima/Cross)
The aspiration for enlightenment is a gate of realizing dharma; it keeps the three treasures from being cut off. (Tanahashi)

Gate Gatha:

May we, together with all buddhas;
Aspire to the Bodhi Mind
That we may strengthen our bond with the Three Treasures

1, How does one awaken the Bodhi mind?

In our tradition, sit Zazen daily and follow the Precepts to the best of our ability. If we do these things we are one with the Bodhi Mind. We bring it to life in our practice.

2. Having done so, Are the Three Treasures Immediately secure?

Taking refuge in the Three Treasures means to embrace them, to value them. If we value them they are secure.
