    The Seventy-sixth of 108 Gates Of Dharma Illumination

    The Seventy-sixth Gate: Right discrimination

    Right discrimination is a gate of Dharma illumination; for [with it] we eliminate all discrimination and lack of discrimination. (Nishijima/Cross)
    Right thinking is a gate of realizing Darma; it leads to freedom from thinking and beyond thinking. (Tanahashi)

    Gate Gatha:
    May we, together with all buddhas;
    Practice Right Discrimination,
    That we may eliminate all dualistic thinkig.

    Reflection Prompts:
    1. How can Right discrimination eliminate all discrimination and lack of discrimination?
    2. Or, how can it it lead to freedom from thinking and beyond thinking?
    3. Write a new gatha.

    Capping Verse:
    Inseparable
    Yet distinct
    Not one and not two

    Somewhat like yesterday’s Gate Right Discrimination allows us to see things as they are rather than what we want them to be. Right Discrimination allows us to see before our filter of likes and dislikes take over.

      The Great Way is not difficult for those who have no preferences.
      When love and hate are both absent, everything becomes clear and undisguised.
      Make the smallest distinction, however, and heaven and earth are set infinitely apart.
      If you wish to see the truth, then hold no opinions for, or against, anything.
      To set up what you like against what you dislike is the disease of the mind.
      When the deep meaning of things is not understood,
      the mind's essential peace is disturbed to no avail.

        1. Well, I kind of can’t say it any better than Tairin and Shokai did. Right discrimination is the letting go of discriminating. Non-discrimination. Accept, don’t expect. (More on this soon)

        2. because the mind/thinking is precisely what prevents us from prajna. When one lets go of the small mind and becomes a Buddha, then one is free of and beyond thinking.

        3.May we, together with all buddhas;
        Accept all without expectations or discriminations
        And awaken to the wholeness of all reality
