    The Twenty-sixth of 108 Gates Of Dharma Illumination

    The Twenty-sixth Gate: Dharma conduct.

    Dharma conduct is a gate of Dharma illumination; for [with it] we follow the conduct that is the Dharma.(Nishijima/Cross)
    Practice of Dharma is a gate of realizing Dharma; it engages the practice of Dharma. (Tanahashi)

    Gate Gatha:
    May we, together with all buddhas;
    Be diligent in our practice,
    That we may actualize conduct that is the Dharma.

    Reflection Prompts:
    1. What would be a good example of Dharma Conduct?
    2. Do you see any small differences in these two translations?
    3. Can you write a new gate gatha?

    Capping Verse:
    To follow Dharma
    Is Dharma
    What else could it be?

    "Dharma-conduct is a gate of Dharma-illumination; for [with it] we follow the conduct that is the Dharma."

    What the heck is Dharma Conduct?

      Dharma conduct is removing the teabag from the cup and placing it into the trash bin.
      Different words in the two translations but saying exactly the same thing.

          1. When one realizes one’s own true nature, and actualizes the Dharma, then all conduct is Dharma conduct. One does as a Buddha does when one is a Buddha.

          2. Yes… one must practice the Dharma to realize one’s own true nature, and then one will conduct themselves in harmony with the Dharma.

          3. May we, together with all buddhas;
          Realize and know our true nature,
          And follow the Buddha’s way in all word and deed.

            Dharma conduct means living in accordance with the Precepts.
