    The 60th of 108 Gates Of Dharma Illumination

    The Sixtieth Gate:

    Read the following, place it in your heart and sleep on it. Then, tomorrow, live it until evening when you can leave a brief comment on what you may have received during the process.

    The faculty of mindfulness* is a gate of Dharma illumination; for [with it] we thoroughly perform many kinds of work.

    A “Dharma Gate” is a teaching or practice that can lead to spiritual growth: some kind of positive outcome in terms of our practice. A way to approach the truth.

    Koan:
    The Satipatthana Sutta has become the basis of all mindfulness meditation, and Bhante unveils it to the reader in his trademark "plain English" style. Contemplating the Four Foundations of Mindfulness.
    The Four Foundations of Mindfulness, as taught by the historical Buddha and ever since, are key things that we should practice being mindful of. These are: our bodies, our feelings, our minds themselves, and phenomena / the world around us.

    Most note worthy replies:
    May we, together with all buddhas;
    Apply mindfulness in our practice
    That we may deepen in our understanding of the Dharma.

    In grateful reverence,
    All life is seen as a gift.
    Dharma's light shines bright

    Fully attentive
    To what is
    Dharma’s work is done

    Notes:
    *[Mindfulness: keeping aware; heedful: mindful of your duties]
