Hi friends. The holiday weekend got away from me, and I nearly overdosed on freedom. You may ask yourself, at this particular moment, is there a Floating Teahouse today at 7pm EST? Indeed there is. See you soon.

The Floating Teahouse has arrived once again. Join us at 7pm EST in the Treeleaf Meeting Room for a chat. Bring a snack and tea, or don't.

There's a minor procedural change this week: we'll have a waiting room before admitting folks. Please make sure your camera is on when joining us.

And Vivien, I love you picture, but I want to confirm that you are actually a little older than that?

Haha! Yes! That would have been quite a surprise in the Tea House tonight! That is little me and my beginner's mind. 4.5 decades ago.

Good day, people of the teahouse. Rohatsu Sesshin ends at 5:50pm on December 7th. As it's the first Sunday of the month, we'll meet for a shortened gathering at 6:15pm. If you can make it, that's wonderful. If not, we'll see you on the third Sunday in December at regular time. Some people's eyeballs may have fallen out after the retreat...

Well, that is why the Japanese have to restore the eyes to their Daruma (Bodhidharma Dolls) ...

                                image.png

** For those who don't know, the Daruma Doll in Japan is loosely based on the legend that Bodhidharma sat in his cave for 9 years until his legs vanished and his eyelids dropped away. Few Japanese actually know the origin story. In fact, it has become just a common folk item in which folks with a wish or aspiration, e.g,, a politician to win an election, will fill in one eye when making the wish, both eyes on achieving it.
