Thank you Shinshi for a nice Oryoki session this morning.
For those with hesitations about joining a session (as I had) here has been my method for getting prepared in case anyone finds it helpful:
-I bought my Oryoki set from The Monastery Store with the waterboard from Etsy (I probably should have just made one). I've yet to make the hattan.
-I was nervous about doing Oryoki during Rohatsu, so I followed with Shinshi in this older Rohatsu lesson

It flows nicely and I found it works well for using during breakfast.
-After a few breakfasts following along I moved to the official Oryoki videos, which were easy to follow at this point.
-Next I did my Oryoki breakfast on a TV tray near my desk so that I could use the Oryoki Sequence pdf. After several breakfasts I was more than ready to join the Oryoki sessions.
-At this point I was using the pdf as a crutch and I really wanted to have the movements part memorized. I doubt I'll ever have the chants memorized, but getting the sequence down seemed more achievable. So, I just made a cheat sheet of each step with basic bullet points for each part instead of the longer description and had a note as to where the chant would be. After doing that quite a few times I now am able to just refer to it as needed. Soon the sequence began to flow pretty logically and it really only takes a few minutes longer than if I just ate breakfast normally.
-My next step is to use the Oryoki Quick Chanting Reference so that I can just do the sequence that I've memorized along with the chants. Honestly, the biggest part for me is having the sequence memorized as I find it a meaningful way to eat my meal, which was really my hope in learning Oryoki.
