    Hi All,

from Tricycle Magazine, a list of online giving opportunities and guidelines:

alternativegifts.org: gifts of service, gift registry for 34 nonprofits

changingthepresent.org: gifts of service, gift registry, wish lists

charitynavigator.org: rates nonprofits on how they use donor dollars

guidestar.org: rates 1.7 million nonprofits, with tips on giving wisely

justgive.org: gift certificates, gift baskets, gift registry, wish lists

heifer.org: Heifer Project’s online catalog with gifts, wish lists, wedding registry

oxfamamericaunwrapped.com: Oxfam America’s online gift catalog

seva.org: Seva Foundation’s Gifts of Service

directrelief.org: tribute cards, gifts of service

These are larger organizations... but don't forget your local charities and people in need!

I am lucky enough to work for an organisation that understands social responsibility; we have our own internal webpage called 'e-give'. By giving through that portal, the organisation matches the donations of individual staff members dollar-for-dollar, giving us more 'bang for our buck'!

I am going to copy this into the "My Favorite Charities" part of our Engaged forum so that we can keep a record ...

Can I offer a seasonal one that I came across today, gift a Christmas dinner to a homeless person. Social Bite is a small chain of cafes that support the homeless.

£5 to buy Christmas dinner for a homeless person from Social Bite sandwich shops: a social business where good food supports great causes!

                  with gratitude

                  Gary
