[Engaged] Free web hosting for non profits and charities

    Hey guys

I just came up with this idea. There are tons of places that give free web hosting to non profits but they are loaded with ads and hidden costs.

So I realized I have everything to host web sites here in my business, so why not give free web hosting for people who can't pay for it.

I'm thinking on schools, charities, authors, zendos, activists, bloggers and of course Treeleaf members.

This is a rough sketch of the service, but it could include:
    • A .info domain name for 1 year (or more if I can) (when I can afford to give .orgs, I will)
    • A Wordpress site with basic design or forums
    • Unlimited disk space
    • Unlimited bandwidth
    • Unlimited email addresses
    • Personal guidance on how to run a community site

There would be some limitations, but I'm still thinking on those.

What do you think? Do you think this would help people?

Will Treeleaf Non-Profit Web Hosting Service be born?

    Hi Kyonin,
I think this is a wonderful idea. Let me think on it a bit; I like the range of activities and organizations you have in mind.

Pretty awesome idea. Maybe a tool for nonprofits with small budgets?

A very generous offer if you can manage the time it will take. You have my blessing and please let me know if and how I can help.

Well, I just started this service!

I begun making some posting on the social networks.

If you guys know any non profit or writer who needs a web site, please let me know so I can get in touch and begin working.

Of course, if any of you Treeleafers need a website for your practice, charity or blog, let me know. I'll be glad to help!

We have our first hosting service for a very interesting person!

There is this cuban woman, Yoani Sánchez, who secretly posts twits from Havana using SMS on her mobile phone.

She writes about how things are on her country, the real deal, and she has very neutral posture about politics. She wishes Cuba has the freedom of other countries, but at the same time she reckons the good things about her people and country.

So she needs a blog and everything says that she might be our first hosted writer. Due to Cuba's firewall, I think she will have to post with her phone too. Not sure about the technical details yet.

She writes in Spanish, but if you want to read her twits go to https://twitter.com/yoanisanchez

                      Hi all!

It's been a while since I reported, but here's how this little thing goes:

Currently I am hosting 3 non profits: 2 animal rights foundations and 1 women rights organization. The three are Mexican and they can't afford their own hosting.

Also I am helping one of them on setting everything, since they have no web experience.

They are still working on their details and respective blogs, but when they launch I'll give you the URLS for you to visit them

                      So there!

                      Gassho,
