[Engaged] Become a Bone Marrow Donor

    Hi,

Please consider to register to become a bone marrow donor. It could mean a life for children and adults with leukemia and related diseases. From what I understand, a surprisingly --not painful-- medical procedure for the donor.

Here is a story about it ...

... and here are some places to donate in North America ...

    ... the UK ...

... and other places worldwide ...

    Jundo,

Thanks for posting this and I've already begun looking into the process, mostly because it gives me the "willies" and that's exactly the point.

As I looked through the site I did find one population that is not allowed to donate somewhat troubling:

    http://www.marrow.org/JOIN/Med_Guidelin ... index.html

There is of course the stereotype of homosexuals being promiscuous and apparently it can be shown to be scientifically valid through statistics, but I hardly see a reason why a gay man in a long term committed monogamous relationship shouldn't be allowed to donate.

Just struck me as odd...reagrdless, a worthy and lifesaving cause that should be supported.

Thanks for brining it to our attention.

    Gassho,

Re: Become a Bone Marrow Donor

Hi - have just taken a look at this thread.

A close friend of mine has just been through the ordeal of her husband having leukemia and having a bone marrow transplant.
He is back at home - doing really well - and this procedure has no doubt saved his life.

So - I must agree with Jundo - it is a supreme act of kindness to donate to the bone marrow bank and could save another human being's life.
